Spring in New England can be pretty disappointing—sometimes it feels like Spring doesn’t even exist here. Part of me wants to embrace the season, but the other part, which is always freezing, just wants to stay cozy in joggers, a sweater, and a coat.
Despite the short window of nice weather, if you were to peek into my closet, you’d find mostly warm-weather clothes and shoes. I’m a bit of a shopaholic, but more in the hoarding sense—I buy things just to fill up my closet. I own around 50 pairs of open-toe shoes and maybe four pairs of boots!
I don’t always think about how much use I’ll get out of an item. Instead, I imagine wearing it on some imaginary warm day that never seems to come. So, I had a reality check with myself and asked, “Why am I buying these beautiful clothes and not wearing them?”
In 2018, I decided to challenge myself to wear every single piece in my closet, no excuses! This challenge will help me make the most of my purchases and also allow me to clear out clothes that no longer fit.
What do you think of this challenge I’ve set for myself?
For this look, I chose a versatile piece from Guess that will transition well into Summer and even into Fall with some stockings. I paired it with a mock neck top to stay warm and to make the dress less revealing. For shoes, I went with my favorite Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots.
