I’ve been self-conscious about my under-eye bags for as long as I can remember, and they’ve always made me look tired and older than I am.
After years of trying every eye cream and home remedy out there, I was beginning to accept that surgery might be my only option to get rid of these bags permanently.
Under-eye bags are pretty common. As we age, the tissue around our eyes weakens, and the fat that normally supports the eyes can start to settle into this area, making it look puffy. Fluid can also build up, making it worse.
Factors like lack of sleep, allergies, smoking, and even genetics can contribute to or worsen under-eye bags. Home remedies and eye creams might help, but the effectiveness really depends on the severity and cause of the bags.
Until recently, surgery was the main way to tackle under-eye bags. But now there’s a less invasive option: Tear Trough Filler Treatment.
This procedure, also known as lower eyelid rejuvenation with filler, targets the tear trough—the area just below the eye and before the cheek. It uses hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers, which are painless thanks to numbing creams, and the treatment takes less than 30 minutes.
The fillers fill in the trough and rejuvenate the lower eyelid area. It’s become popular among people who are too young for surgery but still want to address their under-eye bags.
Before my treatment, I made sure to avoid alcohol and aspirin, which can thin the blood and increase bruising. I arrived early to apply the numbing cream.
During the appointment, Nurse Fiona explained the process and then removed the numbing cream, cleaned, and disinfected the area. She marked where she would inject, which took about five minutes.
The injections were quick and painless. I could see the area looking more even and less puffy with each injection. The whole procedure took about 20-25 minutes. Fiona would occasionally have me move my face to check where more filler might be needed.
The results were almost immediate, and the treatment felt life-changing. For anyone with under-eye bags, it’s a huge boost to self-esteem.
Afterwards, I had some swelling and minor bruising, but it was easy to cover with concealer. The results kept improving over the weeks, with the final results showing up around four weeks.
It’s been eight weeks since my treatment, and I’m thrilled with how refreshed and youthful I look. The results can last up to a year, and the starting price for the treatment is $599, depending on individual needs.
Since then, I’ve felt more confident and use much less concealer. My only regret is not having the treatment done sooner!
